Singer Stoan Apologizes For His Controversial EFF Tweet

Singer Stoan apologizes for his controversial EFF tweet. Singer and former group member of Bongo Muffin Stoan finally expressed regrets for his tweet about the EFF.

After receiving backlash from tweeps and making trends list for his tweet, Stoan ultimately shared an apology and justified his tweet. The singer took to his Twitter page to express why he had said what he had said about the political party. On the 20th of March 2023, during the national shutdown of the political party EFF, Stoan tweeted saying, “F**k EFF”. Tweeps and members of the political party did not take the tweet well and attacked the singer.

In his apology letter, he shared that he had been receiving messages of concern and support of whether he is okay after being attacked following his tweet. He shared that he regret posting his tweet about the EFF and realized how his words have hurt many people. After reflecting on his tweet, he realized that his words cut deep and he should not have said so as some of his family members, associates and friends are EFF members.

“I have been receiving many messages from people concerned with whether I’m okay and messages of support. I love you all, even the ones that have been swearing at me, I understand. I know my words hurt you and you want to make me feel the same depth of pain. I regret that. After a lot of introspection and reflection I’ve realized that my words cut deep, and words do matter. I love my country and my people deeply, and I also understand that some of my family, my associates and country men are EFF members and voters… “, Stoan shared.

He went on to say that he may not agree with the EFF’s tactics and methods, but he does not like it when South Africans are divided as we are facing a common enemy. He further added that he will still continue to voice his opinions and express himself. The singer deleted his tweet about the EFF.

“… Our country needs unity not all this division. We are facing a common enemy, and if we are at each other’s throats, we will all lose. This is not to say I still don’t agree with some of the doctrine, methods and tactics used by the party and I will continue to express myself s a free man, but in the interest of love, peace and unity amongst black South Africans. I will take the divisive tweet down”, Stoan shared.

Some tweeps accepted his apology, others are still not happy about what he did.
