Azana has been candid about dealing with mental health. Speaking on her interview on The Episode podcast, the singer spoke about how anxiety affects her as an artist. She shared that she has been battling with anxiety for the longest time from when she was still young.
Her anxiety became worse when she started being exposed to fame. She made reference to when her debut song titled Your Love came out and she would do interviews and performances. She also said that it has not been an easy round as an artist that is dealing with anxiety.
“I remember when Your Love came out and I had interviews and my hands would sweat. It was worse. I would become so anxious. I’ve dealt with anxiety for the longest time, I still have anxiety. So it is not easy, as artists we go through a lot. Even when I had to go perform, and I see a lot of people, I do get anxious”, Azana said.
She went on to say that she is trying to overcome anxiety by doing things that she fears such as doing interviews. She said that she is now able to sit down and do interviews because of the love that she has for music and does not want to let down the people she work with and her fans. She further added that it gets better with time and she is in a better place when it comes to her anxiety.
“The reason why I’m able to sit down here and speak is because of the love of music, like I love music so much and I wanna push it. So I’m working with people who wants to see me go forward, it’s not only about me as I’m sitting here. I think of a lot of things and I’m like, you have to get over this fear. When you perform, you have to perform very well because there’s people who are rooting for you, who’ve also worked hard with the music and wants to be represented well. It’s not easy, but I know that with time, it becomes better and right now I can say I’m in a better place when it comes to my anxiety”, Azana said.
