Late Hugh Masekela inducted into the Lincoln Center Jazz Hall Of Fame. The late Jazz musician Hugh Masekela has been recognized and honored by the Lincoln Center Jazz Hall Of Fame.
Hugh Masekela’s legacy still lives on. On the 16th of April 2023 Masekela was celebrated due to being enlisted into the Lincoln Center Jazz Hall Of Fame in the United States. Taking to his Instagram page, Selema Masekela shared that he accepted the honor on behalf of the late Hugh and his family. Selema Masekela is an American actor and singer and also a son to Hugh Masekela.
Selema stated that Hugh joined the likes of international Jazz artists that have made it big and inducted into the hall of fame, including Dizzy Gillespie, Clifford Brown and Loius Armstrong. He shared that when Hugh Masekela was young, he had always wanted to reach their level and he finally did even after his passing.
“Last night Hugh Masekela became the first African musician to be inducted into the Lincoln Center Jazz Hall Of Fame. He joins the likes of Louis Armstrong, Dizzy Gillespie and Clifford Brown to name a few artists he aimed to emulate as a teenager. He now rests in the hall with it. It was a deep honor for the Masekela family to accept in his behalf. He was definitely in the room”, Selema Masekela shared.
Hugh Masekela became a Jazz icon for his phenomenal work in the music industry. He has released masterpieces and had toured around the world showcasing his talent. Hugh indeed deserves to be enlisted into the hall of fame as he was a legend.
