Prince Kaybee Celebrates Parting Ways With His Record Label
Prince Kaybee celebrates parting ways with his record label. House music DJ and producer Prince Kaybee is now an independent artist after parting ways with Universal Music.
Taking to his Twitter page, Prince Kaybee shared that he is finally free after him and Universal Music parted ways as his 8 year contract comes to an end. A statement posted by the DJ stated that thee two parties, Prince Kaybee and Universal agreed on the termination of their joint venture. The decision to terminate the contract was reached on the 3rd of February 2023. However, the agreement was in effect from the 3rd of April 2023.
“We refer to the Joint Venture Agreement concluded between Kabelo Motsmai and UM on 3 February 2023. The parties have agreed to mutually terminate the Agreement with effect from 3 April 2023 and UM release you from the delivery of any further recordings in terms of the Agreement. UM shall continue to commercially exploit the recordings, account and make payment (if due) to you in terms of the agreement. We thank you for the opportunity of working with us and we wish you every success in the future”.
Prince Kaybee previously took to his Twitter page to share how unhappy he was under the record label and how bad things were back in 2021. He had shared that everything was fine until the record label hired a someone from Sony, from there, everything went downhill for him. His work and effort were not recognized. “I don’t want to lie. I was fine at Universal. My contract made sense while Themba was still Universal, now they hired this other guy from Sony. It’s terrible, when you want studio time he tells you it’s not time yet. Imaging a talentless person telling you when to be creative”, Prince Kaybee had tweeted.
He shared a video of Kanye West that describes how he feels about his freedom. He also shared that since he left the record label his music is doing well. His Spotify numbers went up by 7%. “Today my Spotify numbers went up 7%. Were ya’ll waiting for me to leave Universal or what”, Prince Kaybee tweeted.
