Makhadzi cut ties with Open Mic Productions. Musician and dancer Makhadzi announced split with her record label.
Lately, a number of South African artists have announced that they have parted ways with their major record labels whilst some wish to cut ties. Since the year began, two famous artists have took to their socials to share that they left their record labels including music DJ Prince Kaybee and record producer Malome Vector. Makhadzi adds to the list of people who decided to end their work relationship with their record labels.
Taking to her social media pages, Makhadzi shared a statement confirming that she is parting ways with Open Mic Productions. The working relationship between the two parties ended in March 2023 after 3 years of working together. The singer stated that she decided not to renew her contract. She shared that the reason why she decided to not continue the relationship is because she wanted to focus and grow her businesses as an individual.
“I have taken a decision to not renew the contract with Open Mic Productions so I can focus on my own company Makhadzi Entertainment and other business ventures. We are all aware that the music career is very short, and I feel that it’s time I grow my own businesses and myself as an individual so that I can leave a legacy for my family and those who depend on me”, Makhadzi wrote.
The singer’s working relationship seemed to have no issues as she stated their relationship was like a match made in heaven. The singer shared all the good things that the label has done for her and how their relationship was. She stated that they had made a huge contribution to her career that has made her grow as an artist. She further added that she will always appreciate the good work they put into her music career.
“I would like to thank Open Mic Productions for the good work and contribution they made in my music career and have learnt a lot from them. They really played a huge role in my growth as an individual and for that I will always appreciate the company and the good working relationship we had”, Makhadzi stated.
