Msaki reimagine “African Queen” for Netflix’s Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story. Afro soul singer and songwriter Msaki took part in the re-making of the “African Queen” song for the new drama series.
Msaki had already begun her break from the music industry after announcing she was putting a pause on her music career. Shortly, the singer announced on her Instagram page that she was part of something amazing. She shared a series of photos and clips with a caption detailing what she was working on with Netflix South Africa.
In her caption, the singer revealed that she was featured in the re-making of a track titled African Queen by an Nigerian musician 2baba for the drama series called Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story. The singer worked alongside other outstanding African artists including Nikita, Fave, and a 22- piece all female orchestra. The theme of the song was to celebrate the drama series.
Msaki expressed how elated she was for being such a part of something of this magnitude. She also shared how beautiful her experience was working with Netflix. “I believe I was a part of something beautiful. I’ll show you the thing we made, it’s lovely. Well done team @Netflixsa. I knew I was part of a beautiful thing even before I saw the end product. This whole team made us feel like African queens. I miss you all I even forgot that I was held hostage in a dress contraption thingie with fake hips. But seriously, thank you so much. I believe where duty ends and kindness begins one finds deep respect and affinity….”, Msaki wrote.
A Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story is a new drama series that is about a queen called queen Charlotte rising to power. The drama series was created by an American television producer Shoda Lynn Rhimes. The series premiered on the 4th of May 2023 and is currently streaming on Netflix.
