M-Touch Rides High on the Success of “Kwelanga 2.0” with Bassie and Ranger

South African music producer M-Touch is basking in the spotlight following the massive success of his latest hit, “Kwelanga 2.0,” a vibrant Amapiano anthem that has captured the hearts of fans and industry insiders alike. The track, a collaborative effort with Bassie and Ranger, features TMan Xpress and Lee McKrazy and has taken the country by storm—earning three major awards at the 2025 Metro FM Music Awards for Best Music Video, Best Amapiano Song, and Best Collaboration Song.

For M-Touch, real name Bulelwa Tibane, the recognition was more than he anticipated. While he had a strong feeling the track would resonate with listeners, walking away with three awards exceeded even his own expectations. “I thought we might get one award,” he said in an interview with IOL Entertainment, “but three was the cherry on top.”

The seeds for “Kwelanga 2.0” were planted in late 2023 when music executive Thulani Way brought M-Touch and Ranger into the studio to collaborate with Bassie. The magic, M-Touch says, was instant. “As soon as Bassie finished recording her vocals, I knew we had something special. I couldn’t stop playing it afterwards.”

That instinct proved to be right. The track not only soared up the charts but also caught fire on social media platforms, particularly TikTok, where it inspired countless videos and dance challenges. “I remember opening TikTok and seeing ‘Kwelanga’ everywhere,” M-Touch recalls. “I was so overwhelmed and immediately called Ranger to tell him we might have a very big song.”

Now just weeks away from turning 27, M-Touch is part of a new generation of South African producers shaping the sound of contemporary music. His journey into the music industry began after matriculating in 2016. He pursued a two-year course in sound engineering at Boston College, a decision that came after a high school career filled with drama and performance arts. “I was really into drama during high school, but eventually I realised that working behind the scenes with sound was my real passion.”

Born and raised in Pretoria, M-Touch’s musical identity began forming during his teenage years. The name itself stems from his high school days. “It used to be ‘M’fana Touch’line,’ but when I needed a proper stage name, I shortened it to M-Touch,” he explains.

With the runaway success of “Kwelanga 2.0”, M-Touch is now firmly on the radar of South Africa’s music industry—and beyond. His ability to blend infectious Amapiano beats with top-tier collaborations has not only earned him awards but also the admiration of a rapidly growing fanbase. As he continues to evolve and experiment with sound, it’s clear that M-Touch is a name we’ll be hearing for many years to come.
