Craig Lucas Breaks New Ground with Fearless EP Tip of My Tongue

South African singer-songwriter Craig Lucas is shaking up the music scene with his bold new EP, Tip of My Tongue. This six-track collection is a raw, honest, and deeply human expression that blends chaos, humor, heartbreak, and unapologetic truth. Known to many as the 2017 winner of The Voice South Africa, Craig has evolved far beyond his early mainstream pop sound, using this project to shed expectations and speak freely without filters.
“This EP is everything I’ve been biting back for years,” Craig shares. “It’s messy. It’s raw. It’s me without a filter—and without the pressure to be anyone but myself.” Unlike a traditional follow-up album, Tip of My Tongue is a creative outburst, a sonic exhale that celebrates imperfection and invites listeners to feel deeply and openly.
The EP covers six diverse yet emotionally connected songs, delving into themes like love, grief, sexuality, identity, and the beautiful chaos of emotions. “Falling in Love” is a sharp, tongue-in-cheek anthem for hopeless romantics who love intensely and recklessly. With clever lyrics and upbeat indie-pop vibes, Craig calls it “therapy to dance to.” “Love You for the Last Time” brings cinematic 80s-style slow dance vibes filled with longing. Co-written and produced by Jono Greyling, it captures the ache of a final plea for connection with someone who was never truly there.
“High, Drunk & Horny” transforms Craig’s personal struggles with addiction into a playful and provocative pop confession, using humor as a tool for healing. “FUCK BOY” (feat. Cubbi) explodes with punk-pop energy and bratty 2000s teen movie nostalgia. It’s a loud, gritty, and self-aware anthem for anyone caught in the cycle of falling for the wrong person.
“Cool on the Internet” sparked the EP’s entire concept. This track critiques online perfection culture with theatrical flair and dark, swaggering production. “Yours” stands as the emotional core of the EP and Craig’s most personal song to date. Written in memory of his late father and brother, it was released alongside the launch of The Warren & Arlene Lucas Foundation, a youth development initiative honoring their legacy.
This EP represents a significant milestone in Craig’s artistic journey. Collaborating with fresh talents like Dolf Willemse, Blake Sayer (Cubbi), and Jono Greyling, Craig embraced the freedom to explore his sound without limits.
“For the first time, I’m okay with not knowing exactly who I am. That uncertainty used to scare me—but now, I see it as freedom,” he reflects. “This EP is a celebration of that. There’s beauty in the mess.”
Tip of My Tongue invites listeners into that beautiful, messy space, proving that vulnerability can be one of the boldest forms of self-expression. Craig Lucas isn’t just making music — he’s crafting a fearless statement that resonates deeply in today’s complex world.
