Scorpion Kings Live Team Honours Mandela Day with Heartfelt Outreach at Alexandra Orphanage

Following the successful release of Bab’Motha by Kabza De Small and in the midst of preparations for the landmark Scorpion Kings Live With Friends concert, the production team took a powerful detour — choosing compassion over celebration for Mandela Day 2025. Alongside artists Mlindo The Vocalist, Tracy, Young Stunna, and in partnership with Sony Music Africa, the team made their way to the Thuthuzela Aid Community Centre in Alexandra to honour Nelson Mandela’s legacy with meaningful impact.

Going beyond the symbolic 67 minutes traditionally observed on Mandela Day, the team rolled up their sleeves at the orphanage and poured energy into transforming parts of the home. Shared spaces were painted, warm meals were lovingly prepared and served, and the artists brought joy and entertainment to the children — bringing smiles and laughter to young faces that often face hardship.

But the visit was about more than just time and presence. The team also came bearing essential donations to support the everyday needs of the centre. Among the items delivered were diapers, baby powder, nursery mats, sanitary pads, washing powder, toilet paper, toothpaste, toothbrushes, non-perishable food, and stationery — all aimed at easing the burden of care and bringing comfort to the children who call Thuthuzela home.

Speaking on the significance of the outreach, Mlindo The Vocalist reflected on the spirit of the day and its deeper purpose. “As artists, we recognise the importance of giving back to the communities that surround and support us. Spending time at Thuthuzela allows us to not only honour Tata’s legacy, but also make a tangible difference in the lives of the children and young people here. That’s what Mandela Day is about — service, love, and humanity.”

Sony Music Africa, Kabza De Small, Tracy, Young Stunna, and the entire Scorpion Kings Live With Friends team used the moment to encourage fellow South Africans to make everyday service a personal mission — not just once a year, but as a consistent act of community care.

With the outreach complete, attention now turns back to the Scorpion Kings Live With Friends concert, which is set to bring Loftus Versfeld Stadium to life on 29 August 2025. With 50,000 fans expected, the event will be one of the biggest live shows in recent South African music history. Tickets are available through Webtickets and at Pick n Pay stores across the country.

Even as the Scorpion Kings prepare to dominate the stage, their Mandela Day efforts have proven that their commitment to South Africa goes far beyond music.
