Women’s Day 2025 in Johannesburg offered a variety of events that gave attendees memorable experiences. From festivals to concerts, the city buzzed with celebrations focused on music, community, and female empowerment.

DJ Zinhle’s Zee Nation Fest at Nasrec was a standout. Known for her passion for hosting and engaging fans, DJ Zinhle lived up to her reputation. Hundreds of her “besties” traveled from Gauteng and beyond to be part of the event. The festival was more than music; it was an interactive experience. DJ Zinhle moved through activations and marquees, taking selfies and connecting personally with her fans.

Zee Nation was a full-scale production, featuring ten outfit changes for DJ Zinhle. The lineup included top South African artists such as Nadia Nakai, Nokwazi, Sjava, Sbu Noah, Khanyisa, Brenden Praise, Zee Nxumalo, Makhadzi, Big Zulu, Elaine, and Nkosazana Daughter. The sound ran smoothly with no major technical issues, and any minor problems were quickly fixed.

During her performance, DJ Zinhle showcased songs from her new album, “Zee Nation Volume 1.” This strategy encouraged fans to stream the album after hearing the tracks live. Featured artists Thabsie, Sfundo, Liyema Pantsi, Mthunzi, Sweet Guluva, and Brenden Praise joined her on stage. DJ Zinhle proved she could not only spin decks but also dance, participating in choreography with the performers.

True to the festival’s theme, DJ Zinhle honored her fans by wearing a cape adorned with their faces. Their images were also projected on screens during the event. The festival focused solely on fans, with no media hospitality, highlighting the special bond between DJ Zinhle and her audience.

Meanwhile, at Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens, musician Shekhinah brought back RoseFest after a four-year break caused by the pandemic. The female-led lineup attracted many RnB lovers and fans eager to celebrate women through music. The event saw strong attendance and positive energy.

Further north at DP World Wanderers Stadium, another Women’s Day concert took place. It featured international acts Anthony Hamilton and Joe Thomas, supported by local artists Vusi Nova and Zonke. Despite high expectations, some attendees expressed dissatisfaction due to sound issues that affected the show.

Overall, Johannesburg’s Women’s Day events provided diverse options, each offering unique experiences. DJ Zinhle’s Zee Nation Fest delivered on its promise to engage and entertain her fans with an unforgettable show. Shekhinah’s RoseFest marked a successful return for a beloved festival. Though the concert at Wanderers Stadium faced challenges, it still contributed to the city’s vibrant Women’s Day celebrations. These events highlighted the power of music and community in celebrating women across Johannesburg.
