Kelly Khumalo Releases New Single “Nyamezela” Ahead of 11th Studio Album “Rebirth”

South African music star Kelly Khumalo has released her latest single, “Nyamezela,” the lead track from her upcoming 11th studio album, Rebirth, set for release in the first week of October. The album features nine tracks, with “Nyamezela” capturing the core themes of resilience, hope, and perseverance.

The word “Nyamezela” translates to “hold on,” and the song delivers a powerful message to listeners facing challenges. Through uplifting dance rhythms and encouraging lyrics, Khumalo reminds her audience that enduring hardships will lead to brighter days.

Speaking to Independent Media Lifestyle, Khumalo explained the personal significance of the song. “I recorded this from a place of understanding. Every word was like a sharp sword cutting through the thickness of every hardship I’ve ever encountered. Only this time I sang from a place of power and the knowing of the joy that’s to come in the morning,” she said.

Rebirth marks a pivotal moment in Khumalo’s career. Having released ten previous studio albums, she says this project reflects her artistic evolution and personal growth. “Every sound, instrument, narrative and approach is a reflection of growth in this album. It’s no longer about trends but the impact and the indestructible legacy. Such only happens when one is brave enough to allow growth that comes through rebirth,” she explained.

The album is an exploration of self-discovery and acceptance. Khumalo told fans, “They can expect a pure bliss of the journey of self-discovery, acceptance and love.” Each of the nine tracks presented its own challenges, requiring different emotional and creative approaches. “All nine songs challenged me because they all required a different part of me,” she said.

When discussing the broader message behind Rebirth, Khumalo emphasized resilience and self-belief. “Remain in your place of power. Never question or doubt yourself. The reason for your existence is far more important than anything you will ever encounter,” she said.

Khumalo’s career is marked by chart success and industry recognition. Her single “Empini” achieved double platinum status with over 9.6 million streams, while the digital version released in 2021 reached platinum after more than 4.8 million streams. Other singles, including “Ngathwala Ngaye” and “Esphambanweni,” also earned gold certifications, demonstrating her continued connection with audiences across genres.

With Nyamezela and the full Rebirth album on the horizon, Khumalo aims to maintain her trajectory while offering music grounded in endurance and transformation. “It’s about impact and legacy,” she said, underscoring her commitment to creating music that resonates beyond trends.
