Seriously Daniel Drops New Single ‘Hosh’ Celebrating Cultural Pride

South African-born rising star Seriously Daniel, real name Daniel Issel, has released a new single titled “Hosh,” marking a fresh chapter in his musical journey. The track is a lively kwaito-pantsula anthem that celebrates cultural pride and shines a spotlight on South Africa’s coloured community.
Produced by Soulful Clay’s Clayton Damons, “Hosh” delivers nostalgic beats that immediately get listeners moving. Its rhythms capture the energy of street corners, taxi rides, and city nightlife, making it a playful and vibrant addition to Daniel’s discography.
“Hosh” follows his previous releases, including “NoBadVibes” and his album Colouring Outside The Lines, showing a creative shift toward fun and dynamic sounds. Daniel explains, “Whether you’re in your car, the taxi, in the kasi or in Sandton, this song will keep you moving.”
The song also carries a powerful message. Daniel says, “I know the weight this word (Hosh) carries. It’s been used to insult and diminish. But I’m taking it back. I’m saying, ‘I’m here, I’ve levelled up, and I’m not ashamed of where I come from.’”
Now living and creating music in China, Daniel continues to use his platform to represent the coloured community. Every lyric, beat, and performance reflects his dedication to blending authenticity with cultural pride. He adds, “For me, ‘Hosh’ is not just about slang or a vibe. It’s about recognition. It’s about saying that Coloured people, like any other community, have their own unique culture, identity and contribution to make. I’m proud to showcase that through my music, no matter where I am in the world.”
Musically, “Hosh” nods to kwaito legends like Zola and Arthur Mafokate, bridging classic township grooves with modern sound. Daniel describes the track as “pantsula, playful and powerful.”
He emphasizes that his music often tackles topics that are rarely addressed, aiming to create unique experiences for his listeners. Reflecting on his early days, Daniel shares, “When I started writing raps in the back of the classroom, it was for fun during battle raps. Doing the cyphers at school was something I was really good at. I realised I didn’t need to prove anything to anyone, it was just to prove to myself that I am valuable and unique.”
“Hosh” is now available on all major streaming platforms, giving fans worldwide a chance to experience Seriously Daniel’s vibrant, culturally rich sound.
