“Zulu” by Jay Music and Moonchild Blends Afro-Amapiano and Gqom in a Celebration of Rhythm

“Zulu” is a pulsating fusion of Afro-Amapiano and Gqom, anchored by assertive drum patterns, a grooving bassline, and rhythms that capture the unstoppable energy of South Africa’s streets. The track combines modern production with cultural roots, delivering a sound that is both infectious and immersive.
Moonchild brings her unmistakable energy to the collaboration. Her voice, filled with fierce charisma, elevates the track, turning it into a celebration of joy, freedom, and heritage. Jay Music complements her performance with his signature DeepGrove production, creating a song that encourages dancing and connection.
“This song is an anthem for anyone who wants to dance, feel free, and celebrate their roots,” says Jay Music. “Moonchild brought her fire, and together we created something that unites people through rhythm.”
Raised in Jeffreys Bay, Jay Music began producing at just 10 years old. He mastered tools like FL Studio and Virtual DJ, gradually shaping a sound that fuses jazz, hip-hop, kwaito, house, amapiano, and Gqom. His 2022 breakout single, “Trip Sessions,” attracted industry attention, while his platinum-certified follow-up, “The Fxckin Injury” with Mellow & Sleazy, solidified his presence in the Amapiano scene.
“Zulu” follows Jay Music’s production work on major hits such as Kamo Mphela’s “Partii” and Uncle Waffles’ “Uyah,” both achieving success locally and internationally. His debut EP, Deep Grove Vol. 1, reached #5 on Apple Charts SA in 2023. With Deep Grove Vol. 2 on the horizon, Jay Music continues to build momentum in the South African music industry.
The collaboration between Jay Music and Moonchild on “Zulu” highlights the power of rhythm, heritage, and creativity. The track is a celebration of movement, culture, and joy, marking another milestone in both artists’ rising careers.
