Jade Olivia Releases Heartfelt New Single “Yet”

South African rising indie artist Jade Olivia has unveiled her latest single, “Yet,” a tender track exploring the longing for someone you have not met. Written in 2020 during lockdown, the song reflects solitude, imagination, and the emotional currents of young heartbreak.

“I had only recently started writing songs in my bedroom and had just gone through my first heartbreak as a 19-year-old,” Jade explains. “The song came from imagining my future partner, wondering who they might be and what they’d be like. At its core, ‘Yet’ is about waiting and everything that happens in the in-between before you meet that person.”

Produced alongside Greg Abrahams, “Yet” marks their second collaboration and highlights Jade’s growth from her raw, lo-fi debut Medicine into a more polished, atmospheric sound. The dreamy textures and lush instrumentals mirror the song’s nostalgic tone. Jade notes, “Sonically, it feels lazy and a little sleepy, almost like the drifting feeling of daydreaming. That ties perfectly into its meaning.”

Born and raised in Hout Bay, Jade Olivia began her music journey in high school, picking up a guitar and writing songs to process her emotions. After spending time in the UK for her studies, she returned to Cape Town with a renewed focus on her music. “That time away taught me a lot about myself,” she says. “Coming back home felt like a fresh start; it made me certain that this is what I want to do.”

With her debut EP scheduled for early 2026, Jade Olivia is establishing herself in South Africa’s indie scene as a thoughtful and emotive storyteller. “Yet” cements her promise as a distinctive voice, blending intimate lyricism with atmospheric soundscapes.
