Lucille Slade Unveils New EP ‘Resurfaced’ – A Journey of Rediscovery and Pride

South African vocalist and songwriter Lucille Slade has released her new EP, Resurfaced, a bold and layered project that explores identity, growth, and emotional depth. Produced alongside Tru Hitz, the EP combines texture, nuance, and heartfelt storytelling to create a sound that is both personal and expansive.

Born in Galeshewe, Kimberley, Lucille draws inspiration from the city famously known as the birthplace of diamonds. She likens her music to the city’s legacy: just as diamonds are discovered beneath the surface, her artistry reflects the value found through introspection and persistence.

Resurfaced opens with a spoken word introduction by Kimberley cultural commentators Sip and Khwati, grounding listeners in the local language and heritage. This sets the stage for a journey that blends global influences with unmistakable South African character.

The opening track, D.Y., serves as a love letter to Kimberley. Sung in both English and Afrikaans, it introduces the city’s spirit, rhythm, and pride to a global audience. Another standout track, Rescue Me, revisits Lucille’s 2018 release from her album Scratch The Surface. Re-recorded in 2025, the track carries a refined, contemporary sound, demonstrating that music can evolve while retaining its original essence.

“Kimberley taught me that real treasure lives beneath the surface. I am proud to be from a small city with a big spirit. Tru Hitz helped me tell my story in a way that feels authentic to who I am. Through this EP, I want the world to understand my influences. My upbringing and how deeply South Africa lives in my sound,” Lucille said.

Resurfaced merges Kasi landscapes with polished soundscapes, reflecting Lucille’s evolution as an artist. The EP is both a tribute to her roots and a declaration of her growth, presenting her as a musician who has rediscovered herself and is ready to share her story with the world.
