Ruhan du Toit Rings in the New Year with Uplifting Single “Totsiens”

Ruhan du Toit, one of Afrikaans’ most beloved voices, closes 2025 with his new single, “Totsiens,” a song that celebrates hope, gratitude, and fresh beginnings. The track captures the spirit of saying farewell to the old year while welcoming the new one with optimism.
“Totsiens” is a contemporary Afrikaans song about the power of change and the people who bring light during difficult times. “Sometimes in the roughest times you just need that one person who comes to change everything, so that you can say ‘cheers’ to the bad times again,” Ruhan explains.
Written by Georic Lomas and Marco van Deventer, the song combines inspiring lyrics with an energetic melody. Both writers recently received the Aitsa Award for Songwriter of the Year. Ruhan’s warm, distinctive voice carries the message with sincerity, making the track both uplifting and heartfelt.
“I wanted to end the year with something that makes people smile,” Ruhan says. “We all have things we want to leave behind – and ‘Totsiens’ gives you that nice feeling of closure and a new beginning. It’s a song you can listen to, whether you’re in love or just done with everything that was bad.”
The accompanying music video offers a natural, behind-the-scenes look, filmed in a spontaneous “rehearsal” style. The production team, including Eric Graham, Georic Lomas, and Marco van Deventer, captured authentic moments without the band or videographer hearing the song beforehand. The video was shot at Upper East Side in Hazelwood, Pretoria.
Ruhan du Toit’s “Totsiens” is a celebration of positivity and light. It demonstrates why he remains one of the most respected artists in the Afrikaans music industry, consistently bringing fresh energy and emotion to his music while connecting deeply with his audience.
