The role prompted her to come out of retirement, a decision she credits to the universe guiding her path. “Dearest Brenda Fassie… I gave it my all and still wish I could have done more! You gave us your all and you deserve all the glory in the world. Even when the cameras were off, I could not stop crying, yet there was laughter and joy all around. Reflecting on Fassie’s resilience, Ngxoli highlighted the singer’s ability to overcome personal battles and inspire others. “We all have our challenges, pains and traumas… some end up in rehab. Whatever therapy you choose, be encouraged change is inevitable. The rain doesn’t pour forever. The sun shall rise. Brenda Fassie showed us we all have fighting power. When Vulindlela was released, many had written her off… and that album became her most successful,” Ngxoli shared.

Preparing for the role pushed Ngxoli to her limits emotionally, mentally, and physically. She immersed herself in Fassie’s life, researching extensively and engaging with the singer’s associates. “Your tears became mine. I stalked your associates like hell. Only a handful knew and God knows how freaked out I was. You were and still are the GOAT. Hallala Yemyem… Sophitsho!” she said.
