Don Vino to Headline Van Ryn’s Jazzy Sundowner Session in Cape Winelands

This January, the Cape Town International Jazz Festival (CTIJF) and Van Ryn’s Distillery are bringing a special edition of the Van Ryn’s Jazzy Sundowner Session to the heart of the Cape Winelands. Set for January 30, 2026, the event promises a sunset-soaked evening of smooth jazz and R&B, with acclaimed saxophonist Don Vino taking centre stage.
Don Vino has been a prominent figure in South Africa’s jazz scene for over two decades. He began his musical journey at 15, experimenting with instruments like the banjo and trumpet before establishing his signature Saxy Vibes style. His career includes performances with international icons such as Dr Jonathan Butler and Kirk Whalum, and tours across Europe, Dubai, Australia, and the United States. In August 2018, he released his debut album All The Way, further cementing his reputation as a soulful saxophonist with global appeal.
At Van Ryn’s Distillery and Brandy Cellar, Don Vino will perform against the stunning backdrop of the Cape Winelands. Guests can expect an intimate experience featuring live music, sunset views, and a curated atmosphere designed to go beyond a traditional gig. The combination of world-class jazz and scenic surroundings promises an evening of unforgettable entertainment.
“The Van Ryn’s Jazzy Sundowner Sessions are more than just a monthly event — it’s the perfect summer activity,” says CTIJF Co-Director Georgia Jones. “These sessions celebrate our incredible local talent, offering audiences the chance to enjoy great music, good food, and the unique ambiance of the Cape Winelands.”
Tickets for the session include entry, live music, and a picnic, with beverages available for purchase. With its blend of soulful performance, picturesque scenery, and relaxed vibe, the Don Vino Sundowner Session is set to be one of South Africa’s must-attend jazz experiences this summer.
