For Mr Thela, the title INTSIKA represents more than a name, it speaks to responsibility, resilience, strength and remaining grounded through adversity.

“I believe being ‘Intsika’ is both a calling and a blessing. It is carrying the weight, standing through the storms and remaining rooted when everything else begins to shake. To be a pillar is to be both God’s favourite and God’s strongest soldier – entrusted with the strength to stand, not only for yourself but for those who lean on you.” — Mr Thela

Known for his raw, uncompromising approach to Gqom, Mr Thela has consistently pushed the sound forward while remaining connected to the streets and the culture that shaped it.

With INTSIKA (KING OF GQOM) he continues that journey, bringing together his signature production style with a selection of collaborators who add their own energy and identity to the project.

‘Ubumnandi’ serves as a powerful introduction to the album campaign. The collaboration with Eemoh and Vanger Boyz brings together distinctive vocal performances and Mr Thela’s hard-hitting production, resulting in a record built for the dancefloor and the streets. The title reflects the song’s celebratory spirit, inviting listeners to embrace the moment, enjoy the music and experience the energy that comes with being surrounded by good people and good times.

The title INTSIKA (KING OF GQOM) reflects Mr Thela’s deep-rooted relationship with the genre and his ongoing role in shaping its sound and culture. The forthcoming album promises to showcase the versatility of his production while staying true to the raw energy that has defined his career.
