South African Musicians Who Have Won Grammys
The Grammy awards are still buzzing with South Africans celebrating the Soweto Gospel Choir victory. The group won their third Grammy award on Sunday night in the World Music Album category. The choir has previously won in in 2007 and 2008 in The Best Traditional World Music Album category.
The Grammy are music businesses biggest deal for musicians worldwide. Over the years South Africa has seen a number of its own musicians receive nominations, as well as win awards. In total South Africa has 23 Grammy nominations since 1988. The nominees include the late Miriam Makeba, and Hugh Masekela. Other South African nominees include Ladysmith Black Mambazo, and Johnny Clegg.

1.Ladysmith Black Mambazo
The legendary group has earned seventeen nominations, making them the most nominated South African musicians. They were the first South African act to earn a Grammy nomination in 1988. To date, Black Mambazo has won four Grammy awards.
2.Soweto Gospel Choir
In total, Soweto Gospel Choir has been nominated five times and have won three Grammy awards to date.
