Zahara joins Mzansi’s top actors in grooming young talent in the Eastern Cape
Mzansi’s pop queen Zahara and veteran actor Vusi Thanda join actors (Sphamandla Dhludhlu from (Rhythm City), Unathi Platyi (Keeping Score), Tiisetso Thoka (Isithembiso) and Thobani Mseleni (Mtatiele) helped 300 budding thespians and musicians molding their performance skills.
“I am very passionate about uplifting young people from minimum wage and previously disadvantaged families. This workshop is not only for those who want to be actors but for many young people who struggle with their confidence,” says Zahara.
The participants joined a one-day workshop at the Cambridge Town Hall in East London, Eastern Cape. The workshop focused on theatre development and television grooming, vocal coaching for stage and television as well as assist in building the confidence of the young aspiring actor preparing them for possible careers in film or theatre, television and how to conduct themselves when interacting with media.
Aspiring actors were also trained in delivering monologues/dialogues, how to read scene/scripts. They engaged in creating comedy with improvisation and will receive the necessary skills in building their brands.
“It is a great opportunity for me to share with young people all my years of television and theatre knowledge,” says Vusi Thanda.
“As young actors, it is our responsibility to use our public platforms in developing our communities,” says Sphamandla.
