Watch! Black Coffee Weighs In On The Division Of Music Genres & Disliking Other Artists “Music Is Universal” – Well, yesterday, the 28th of July 2019, there was an exchange of tweets regarding music and genres, that had social media users.
Zakes Bantwini took to social media to respond to Cassper shared post boosting on the rise of the Hip Hop genre in the year 2020. But Zakes felt the focal point should not be genre-based but to encompass the music industry as a whole.
On the other hand, Refiloe Maele Phoolo, prominently known as Cassper Nyovest seems to have a different vision, his ideologies see no flaw in supporting your selected genre as an artist, especially Hip Hop for him was his stepping stone to fame, helped him become the star he is today.
Black coffee took to Instagram to share visuals on the 29th of July 2019 to circulate his perspective of music.
This is what he had to say:
“When it comes to music I don’t like the division, I don’t like the separation. I don’t feel its a smart thing to do, you know and I often see people diving genres and people like some people will say I will never play so and so, so’s song. What if you did not know who made the song.“
“What if it just came and you did not know who made it but it was the best song you ever heard? And then, later on, you find out it’s the artist you thought would never make such a song.”
“Does it change or do you erase it in your mind then not love the song because you thought the artists was commercial? It does not matter who made the song, id it evokes the feeling, it evokes the feeling and that’s what I am here for just to evoke feelings.“
