The Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape, event will see singers such as Cassper Nyovest, Kwesta, Sho Madjozi, Kabza De Small, DJ Maphorisa, De Mthunda & Njelic, DJ Sumbody, Moonchild, Zonke, Vusi Nova, Ami Faku, Tsepo Tshola, DJ Tira, Simmy, Zer012 Finest, Anathi. It will also include comedians Ntosh Madlingozi, Siya Seya and Trevor Gumbi.
The annual event, which was sold out last year, will be a three-day affair this year.
Project manager Marc Mahambehlala said the Eastern Cape Gambling Board has come on board to help revellers spend their money wisely.
Said Marc: “Part of the board’s mandate is to alert the public about illegal gambling sites and modes, as well as dangerous gambling practises.” Many have received bonuses at this time of the year and with more time on their hands, some get tempted to over risk their hard-earned income.
As a result, they become easy prey for unethical and shady gambling operators.”
According to Marc, the event’s main aim is to boost the Nelson Mandela Bay economy.
“The festival prides itself for contributing to efforts meant to boost the local economy through among others the attraction of tourists, presenting income-generating and employment opportunities in Nelson Mandela Bay. Those who will benefit the most will be the youth with qualifications, but lack work experience.
“These will include graphic designers, administrators and public relations personnel. Businesses that will benefit are B&Bs, tour operators, caterers, technical services, security and vendors,” he said.
The event kicks off on 27 December, with the Urban festival at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, followed by Night on 28 December at BoardWalk ICC.
The main event will be heldon 29 December, also at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
