Kelly Khumalo Distance’s herself from an alleged scheme Involving Her sister Zandi Khumalo’s Husband, Mhlo Gumede
Kelly Khumalo did not mince her words and has distanced herself from claims of corruption involving her sister Zandi Khumalo’s husband, Mhlo Gumede.
The multitalented muso made headlines following an event organiser alleged that Mhlo had tricked him out of R15,000 with the promise of having Kelly perform at his entertainment lounge in the year 2018.
“With all due respect, Mhlo Gumede is my sister’s husband and manager, not my bookings manager nor part of my team, never was and never will be. So whatever dealings you may have with him Do NOT involve me. Thank you,” Kelly wrote in the caption that accompanied her full statement on Wednesday.
Gesh Lounge and Entertainment owner Bhekani Ndlovu reported to TshisaLIVE that he only had the revelation at a later stage later than he was scammed by Mhlo following he paid money to him to book Kelly.
According to Mhlo the offer was an undeniably cheap to get Kelly to perform, although he ignored his doubts because he believed that they were working together because they are related by marriage.
“I met him through a mutual entertainer and when we spoke and he offered me Kelly Khumalo and Vusi Nova, I was initially doubtful, especially after I heard the amount of money he was going to book them for. But he assured me that it was a unique deal because they are family and as for Vusi, he would come as well only because he’s a friend of Kelly’s.”
Bhekani later had the revelation that Kelly was never informed or clued up about the arrangement after he started investigating why Mhlo allegedly told him not to create a poster for the event.
On realising that he may have been scammed, Bhekani tried to call to ask for his money back but his calls and SMSs were (and are still) being ignored. The event organiser said all he wanted was his money back.
