The lockdown has brought so much fear in the entertainment industry, with performers wondering whether they’d make it till the next day. However, Black Coffee does not seem to be having much of a problem with the lockdown. The artist has been around the world for about five years.
Being at home has been nice for him because he could at least get to eat his favourite lockdown meal with his son. However, the artist hasn’t really been doing nothing during the lockdown period. He was recently part of the acts for Global Citizen’s ‘One World: Together at Home’ concert that was streamed online and on other channels. Other artists that were part of the concert include Nomzamo Mbatha, Cassper Nyovest and Sho Madjozi, along with other international artists. Black Coffee has also been helping other organisations by raising money through his ‘Home Brewed’ concert. “The world needs all the help it can get and as artists we’re doing our best to see how we can assist,” says Black Coffee.
His global tours, including Coachella, have been put on hold due to the pandemic. So the artist has been putting some of his focus on his organisation, Flightmode Digital. The company is an investment company that fund African startup companies. They have invested in some companies, including the famous Yoco. The artist then spoke about the music industry after lockdown. “I don’t think it’s going to change; it’s going to go back to normal. I just think it’s going to take time to go back to what it was,” says Black Coffee. He says the sector will be the one that is mostly impacted as it will be one of the last open.
