DBN Gogo A “Listeners’ Choice” Nominee For The MTV Africa Music Awards Kampala 2021! The votes are in for the first round of the Pan-African Listeners’ Choice category for the MTV Africa Music Awards Kampala 2021 and the nominees have been announced; amongst the list is South African DJ, DBN Gogo, also known for her energetic and vibrant dance sets.

The 2021 MAMAs have reportedly stated that the “Listeners’ Choice” award will give music fans the opportunity to have their voices heard. The majority of finalists in this category was determined by votes on local radio stations and social media, selecting the best publicly-voted musicians from different African countries. The “Listeners’ Choice” award ensures that the voices of music lovers across the diverse countries on the continent are recognised,” says Monde Twala, Senior Vice President and General Manager at ViacomCBS Networks Africa (VCNA) in a press statement.

Twenty artists from 18 different African countries have made the first round of finalists, making it a highly contested category. DJ DBN Gogo has found herself being in the list and was has asked her fans to cote for her.

“The awards ceremony will feature performances from leading African and international artists and will also showcase some of the biggest cross-genre and cross-border collaborations,” read the statement from the awards website.

Music fans have the opportunity to vote for their favourites with voting officially closing on 31 January 2021. The MAMAs will be held virtually in Kampala, Uganda on 20 February 2021 and according to ‘Variety’, will be hosted by an American producer DJ Khaled.
