Makhadzi’s ‘Murahu’ Single Goes Gold. The Limpopo venda queen Makhadzi owned 2020 with her latest album titled “Kokovha” as it produced many hit songs including Sugar Sugar, Red Card, Happiness, Kokovha, Murahu and a few others. She also featured the like of Master KG, Mr Brown, Sho Madjozi, Mampintsha, Moonchild Sanelly, and some of the talented musicians.Her recent popular hit single “Murahu” which also won song of the year has just went gold. Makhadzi and Mr Brown received gold plaques for Murahu which has over 4.3 million views on YouTube.
The excited Makhadzi took to social media to share the news: “After 11years of singing I just received my first gold status .Khadzinatorrrrrsss!!! Murahu ft mr brown has reach gold as a single… I am speachless and happy at the same … please help me to celebrate , my dream came true vhathu vhanga.”
A record label ‘Open-Mic Producion’ which Kokovha was released under took to Twitter to announce and congratulate the two stars for their recent achievement. “Congratulations to @MakhadziSA and @MrBrownSA_ on Murahu going Gold…..Kokovha deluxe coming soon. #MurahuWentGold.”
Makhadzi’s fan acccount also shared the news with snaps of the two stars posing with their gold plaques captioned: “A HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to Makhadzi on her Song Murahu ft Mr Brown going Gold. Her own first plaque in 12 years. This is a moment.”

South Africa’s 2020 song of the year was awarded to Makhadzi, who is also best known for her songs “Tshanda Vhuya” and “Matorokisi” for her hit single Murahu. The energetic supernova has been around the block for 11 years. It had been a rollercoaster ride until her hit banger Matorokisi changed the game for her. “I started on the street with five followers and they grew to 10 and 20. So God has always had a bigger plan for me. It has been a long journey. I remember I would stand in front of retail stores selling my music. People started to come to town knowing that there is this little girl that gives free performances on weekends. No one took me seriously, but I kept pushing.”
