Die Heuwels Fantasties and Tresor cross genres with Pop-infused reboot of fan favourite Shangri-La
First released in 2014 Shangri-La was an instant hit garnering over 400,000 views. A nostalgic tale of lost love that hit a note with Die Heuwels legion of fans. Shangri-La is a fictional remote oasis where life approaches perfection, an ideology we can all appreciate during these difficult times.
While Die Heuwels are definitely one of SA’s most loved Afrikaans acts, they always strive to break boundaries and collaborate with artists that they admire regardless of genres. In partnering with Tresor, this timeless track receives a modern update, interlaced with African energy and a more upbeat track. With over 125,000 views in a week, this video is proving again to be a fast favourite.

Veterans of performing to huge sold-out events to in excess of 15 000 people, due to Covid 19 Die Heuwels Fantasties and Tresor have not been able to perform to live audiences over 500 people in over 15 months. A negative impact that has had devastating financial consequences on both artists. With little to no support from the government, the term struggling artist has never been more apt.
Thankfully, MTN has committed to backing the arts. In promotion of their new streaming service, InConcert, MTN Play made life a little brighter by funding this unique collaboration and music video.
Support local music and the arts by consuming their music and engaging with their content. They need this now more than ever.
