Grammy Award Winning Trio Receives Warm Welcome At OR Tambo International Airport
Grammy winning trio receives warm welcome at OR Tambo International Airport. The Grammy Award winners, Nomcebo Zikode, Zakes Bantwini and Wouter Kellerman landed at OR Tambo International Airport on the 10th of February 2023. The trio was welcomed by the Department of Sports, Arts and Culture Minister Nathi Mthethwa, families, friends and supporters.
The winners came back home with a prestigious award. They won in the category of Best Global Music Performance for their collaboration song titled Bayethe at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards that were held in Los Angeles, USA. The trio was exuberant after they were welcomed in such a beautiful way. Each artist shared how grateful they were for the welcoming ceremony held by the Department, winning the Grammy Award and representing South Africa.
Nomcebo utterd how proud she is of herself by representing South Africa and want to keep on inspiring other women to chase their dreams. “It’s an incredible honor to be received like this by our own people. God has decided to show off with us. I’m incredibly happy and proud to play a part in inspiring young South African women from all races and cultures in our beautiful country. And I want to say that to young women in a small township, if you think you can’t do it just know it’s possible”, Nomcebo said.
Zakes shared how happy and grateful he is for being welcomed in such a very high, respectful manner, and appreciate what the minister had done for them. “Minister we want to say thank you. I have never experienced such love in our beautiful country, like I am receiving today. And this goes without saying that we are a country of possibilities. We really are a country of opportunities”, Zakes said.
Wouter further added to say he is grateful for being part of the trio and working with the two artists. He also showed appreciation to the minister for having a welcoming ceremony to welcome and celebrate them. “Thank you Minister Nathi Mthethwa for welcoming us in such a beautiful way today. South Africa has such incredible riches in our music and in our culture… Thank you Zakes and Nomcebo for sharing your creativity with me”, Wouter said.
