DJ Poizen Memorial Services Announced in Gauteng and Limpopo

South African DJ Caven Masetla, popularly known as DJ Poizen, will be honoured with two memorial services for his fans in Gauteng and Limpopo. The Gauteng memorial is scheduled for 11 September at Centurion Shisanyama in Centurion, Tshwane, while the Limpopo memorial will take place on 12 September at Napscom Hall in Ramalema.

The funeral service will be held at Napscom Hall on 13 September, with the DJ being laid to rest at Ga-Malesa Cemetery.

DJ Poizen gained fame for his popular YouTube DJ mixes and tracks such as Give Me The Night. His sudden passing on 30 August followed a car accident that also involved fellow musician Chymamusique, who was hospitalised.

In a statement, his family said: “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Caven Masetla Moshoane, widely known as DJ Poizen, who tragically lost his life in a car accident on Saturday, 30 August. DJ Poizen was more than just a talented artist. He was a loving father, a devoted partner and the undisputed King of Bassline. His infectious laugh and warm smile touched the hearts of everyone he met.”

The accident was confirmed by the Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety. According to their statement, the collision occurred in the early hours along the N1 at Ysterberg Mountain in Polokwane Municipality, Capricorn District. Two sedans collided head-on, resulting in five deaths and two injuries. Four of the deceased were burnt beyond recognition. The injured, including a driver and a passenger, were taken to a nearby hospital.

Fans and the music community are preparing to pay tribute to DJ Poizen’s legacy, celebrating his contributions to the South African music scene and the joy he brought to his followers.
