Icee ZA Drops Debut EP “From Rus 2 The World”
Innocent Cindi, known professionally as Icee ZA, has officially released his highly anticipated EP “From Rus 2 The World.” The name Icee ZA comes from the initials of his first and last names, reflecting a personal connection to his identity.
Born and raised in Vosloorus, the township has significantly shaped his music. “Vosloorus shaped me,” Icee ZA said. “It gave me the stories, the energy and the rhythm that I carry into my music.” The township’s vibrant culture and everyday experiences continue to influence his sound and lyrics.
Icee ZA’s interest in music began in childhood. He recalls tapping on classroom desks, creating rhythms that drew classmates to dance. “I realised that I could make people move even without instruments,” he said. At 14, he started DJing, marking his first step into the music industry. A close friend later introduced him to FL Studio, sparking his passion for production. “The moment I opened that software, I was hooked,” he explained. “I wanted to create my own tracks, my own sound.” This dedication led him to produce his own music, launching his career as a producer.
The EP’s lead single, “Sondzela,” is a love song inspired by Icee ZA’s personal experiences. “It reflects the love, warmth and compassion I feel with my family,” he said. “Family is one of life’s greatest blessings, and through this track, I wanted to show how much those bonds shape who we are.” The song highlights relationships that inspire and sustain him.
“From Rus 2 The World” tells the story of his journey from Vosloorus to the international stage. “It’s about where I come from and where I want to go,” he said. “I want my music to reach people across the globe. I believe my sound is universal, and it can connect with listeners from different cultures and backgrounds.” The EP’s title reflects both his roots and his ambition to share his music beyond local borders.
For Icee ZA, music is more than entertainment. “It is a journey,” he said. “Songs carry people through moments in life – whether joyful or difficult.
