Grammy-Nominated SA Producer Vumaala Steps into the Spotlight with Debut Single ‘Show Me’

South African-born, Los Angeles-based producer Vumaala, born Bubele Booi, officially steps out from behind the scenes with the release of his debut single, ‘Show Me,’ featuring Ré Alissa. “This chapter is about allowing myself to be seen. Not just as a producer, but as an artist creating from a deeply personal place,” says Vumaala.

Under his birth name, Bubele Booi, he has earned production credits for Beyoncé on The Lion King: The Gift (nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album 2019), John Legend, Cynthia Erivo, and more. As part of the acclaimed South African production duo The Imports, Booi has also worked with Will Linley, Lloyiso, Shekhinah, Ami Faku, Lady Zamar, Manana, and Clean Bandit. His work spans international pop, R&B, and electronic music, establishing him as a sought-after producer.

Released on New Year’s Eve 2025, ‘Show Me’ marks a new creative chapter for Booi. Born in Johannesburg and raised in Cape Town, he moved to New York in 2018 to complete a Master’s degree in Music Technology at NYU. This move launched his global career while maintaining deep ties to South Africa.

Written during a period of isolation and uncertainty far from home, ‘Show Me’ is a vulnerable, genre-defying track rooted in soul, faith, and emotional honesty. The single premiered as BBC Radio 1Xtra’s ‘Tune of the Week,’ with host Remi Burgz praising its impact: “This is my first track of the week of the year, and it’s a very special one. This is a song that penetrates the soul, the bones, with all the right chords, melodies, and message. Just listen and let it move you.”

Billboard Africa described the single as “a quiet prayer for clarity and hope,” highlighting Vumaala’s ability to create music on his own terms, blending emotional depth with technical precision. With ‘Show Me,’ Vumaala introduces himself not just as a world-class producer, but as a South African artist ready to share his own story. The single sets the tone for a career defined by personal expression, global reach, and artistic freedom.
