Omega Circle Honors Mother’s Legacy with New Gospel EP

South African gospel group Omega Circle has released a heartfelt new EP titled “Worship Songs I Could Have Sang With My Mother,” a deeply personal project that reflects on loss, faith, and the enduring bond between parent and child.
The EP explores the emotional journey of losing a mother and the way faith can provide comfort and healing in the face of grief. For the group, the project emerged from a deeply personal reflection: this year marks 20 years since the passing of the songwriter’s mother.
“Losing a mother is one of the most difficult experiences in life,” the group explains. “It can shake your sense of security and trust in those around you. But in that space of loss, you learn to lean on God and trust Him to guide you through.”

At the heart of the EP is the theme of trust, captured in the recurring phrase “Ndithembe kuwe,” meaning “I trust in You.” These words echo throughout the songs, reinforcing the spiritual focus of the project.
The EP was not initially planned. One February morning, the songwriter woke up feeling uninspired, only to be reminded of the milestone: two decades without his mother. That moment of clarity sparked the creative process, inspiring him to write songs he imagines he and his mother would have sung together, possibly even with his own children, the grandchildren she never met.
The songs came in both quiet, reflective moments and unexpected bursts of inspiration. Every track was written specifically for this project, with one notable exception: a reimagined version of Nkosi Sikelel’ iAfrika, which opens the EP and sets the tone for the reflective worship journey that follows.
“This EP is an ode to my first love — the woman who taught me how to love myself and how to love God,” the group says. “Worship music becomes a bridge, connecting us to memories and feelings we can no longer experience physically.”
“Worship Songs I Could Have Sang With My Mother” offers listeners a moving spiritual experience, turning grief into worship and memory into song. The EP is now available on all major streaming platforms:
