Halo Yagami Explores Love, Intention and Connection on New EP, Indandatho

South African artist Halo Yagami steps into a softer, more intimate space with his new seven-track EP, Indandatho, meaning a “wedding ring” in isiZulu.

Rooted in the idea that he is a lover before he is somebody’s lover, the project explores love beyond romance, as a way of experiencing people, beauty, music and life with intention. For Halo, love is found in the intention to choose someone, understand them deeply and continue growing together.

The title Indandatho becomes a symbol of commitment without possession, a reminder that real connection requires curiosity, attention and the willingness to keep choosing one another. Sonically, the EP is warm, atmospheric and genre-fluid, blending R&B with African textures and Halo’s distinctive musical world. It creates space for tenderness, movement, reflection and moments of uplift, delivering a deeply personal listening experience.

The EP’s focus song, “Welela” featuring Dusse Wavy, meaning “cross over,” captures the excitement of finding someone who makes the journey towards love feel worth taking. Filled with both yearning and certainty, the song is an invitation to close the distance when a connection feels undeniable.

Indandatho also features Maglera Doe Boy, Chipego and Tellaman, with each collaborator bringing a unique musical perspective to Halo’s world. Rather than simply adding features, Halo wanted the collaborations to feel like different artists entering the same room and contributing something authentic to the story.

For Halo, the EP marks a new level of confidence in his artistry and his willingness to embrace the things that naturally inspire him.
