Nakhane Toure Speaks About His Opening For Europe Music Star Erasure
Award winning musician and Nakhane Toure got a chance to open for a European 80’s music star Erasure in Berlin days ago. The artist was in a process of recording his studio album when he was asked to open for Erasure. Toure didnt disappoint he made a performance that was loved by many. The ‘In The Dark Room’ hitmaker was in Europe for the last few months. The international Record label BMG approached him few weeks before to perform in an music show for Erasure.
Nakhane explained that the European Culture Broadcaster RTE usually have a live monthly event where they have a variety of artists such as Blondie who they had before and now they were having Erasure. “One of the seniors at BMG i was with while in Berlin suggested that i open for Erasure. I didn’t really think it was going to happen. Few days later it was confirmed. Toure also went on say that he loved every second of the show and felt a connection with the crowd.
“The show went really amazing. The audience were very receptive, and that’s always tricky when they don’t know who you are. When I play shows in South Africa, I play to passionate people. People are there because they love the music and they really show it. Playing overseas is a little different because I think my music is slightly different: The rhythms, the way I sing and the way I perform. But at the end of the day it’s a gig like any other, but on a different continent,” he said.
Nakhane is now busy recording new music with a starring role in the film The Wound and the release of his debut novel, Piggy Boy’s Blues.
