Jill Scott To Be Part Of This Year’s Durban Essence Festival
It has been announced that American singer and songwriter Jill Scott has been added in the artist line up for this year’s Durban Essence Festival which is to take place from the 26th of September till the 1st of October. The queen of neo-soul will be sharing the stage with some of the best acts in SA. included in the line up is hip hop star Nasty C, Joyous Celebration, Gospel ID Finalists, appearances by Somizi Mhlongo and talks by Bishop T.D Jakes and Reverend Al Sharpton.
“This year there is also an incredible line-up of artists and book writers in the literary arts festival; named ARTiculate. SA’s very own columnist and writer Fred Khumalo will speak in panels alongside other popular writers such as; Deon Meyer and academics, Ashwin Desai, Prof Jonathan Jansen and Judge Chris Nicholson. Chris Hani’s daughter, Lindiwe Hani, will share from her latest book, alongside international authors Christopher Merrill, Catherine Chidgey. There will also be talks given by artists such as, Greg Maronovich to name but a few,” stated the Mayor of Ethekwini Municipality, Councillor Zandile Gumede.
Jill Scott will be amongst all these celebrated artists and writers entertaining the crowd with her amazing voice.
