“I don’t want to be Worshipped” Says Dr Tumi
Gospel muso Dr Tumi said that he refuses to tolerate people that want to worship him in any way and require for them to bow down to God and praise him. Tumi is currently one of the best Gospel star in South Africa, he has won himself a number of awards and has a huge fan base. He broke the record last month as he became the first Gospel musician in the history of the SA to fill up The Ticketpro Dome. All of the above mentioned is a clear evidence of how much people love him and his music.
The Nothing Without You hit-maker spoke of the incident of worship with Drum Magazine when he said that he met a guy that literally bowed down to him and touched his feet as a way of worshiping him. “I know some people do that out of respect but it’s not appropriate to do that in church. I don’t want to be worshiped in any way. Bow down to God, not to me. I’m not even a king,” he said.
The musician explained that since he began performing in churches, the incident happened more than twice and in different provinces. He said he once walked out of a church because as the prophet came in everyone went down on their knees, as a sign of worship.”I left one church in Polokwane because people went down on their knees when the prophet walked in – the whole congregation! I didn’t perform; I just stood up and left. You can’t bow down to a human being,” he said.
