Mandoza’s Wife To Start A Foundation In His Name
Mpho Tshabalala the wife of the late Kwaito star Mduduzi Tshabalala famously known as Mandoza has initiated a Foundation in her husband’s honour and plans to name it after him ‘Mandoza Foundation’.
She elaborated on the idea that inspired this initiative in an interview with TshisaLive. “The idea of the foundation was inspired by Mandoza’s journey with dealing with cancer. When doctors told him he had cancer and it was already in stage three, I thought to myself ‘what happened to stage one and two?”
She stated that she feels she can do right by others and help them be aware of the condition because her husband’s condition was discovered late so Doctors can only do so much.”Black people have the mentality that cancer is a white man’s disease and I hope to help change that through mobile clinics and teaching them about annual tests. The way you take your car for a service every year is the way we should treat our bodies, ” she said.
The Foundation is set to launch the following Monday at Charlotte Maxeke Hospital in Johannesburg. The main aim is to host regular talks in townships to help people understand the disease and raise awareness about early detection. Mpho is working in partnership with Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA).
In conclusion she added how much of a good man Mduduzi was and that this foundation is another way of continuing his legacy. Mandoza was a loving man with a big heart and this foundation speaks to his character and is my way of continuing with his legacy.”
