Philisiwe Mavukela Releases An Album Titled Ubuhle Bendalo
After few years of taking a break in music Afro-Soul songstress Philisiwe Mavukela has come back with a soul reviving collection of songs from her newly released album titled Ubuhle Bendalo. Her reason for taking a break was the Depression she suffered back in 2014. The album consist of 6 songs that combine Afro-soul, jazz and R&B genres.
She expressed in an interview with SowetanLive that she is relieved that she finally released her album.”It is a huge relief to finally release my mini album after being frustrated by the industry for many years. I am happy that people can now listen to the music I composed. It was not an easy decision but I took a break because I was really frustrated. I had a burning passion for music but people kept failing me.”
She added that singing about what she has experienced always make things easier for her.”It is easy to sing about something you have experienced. Even when you sing on stage you sing it with conviction. Writing about my own pain may encourage others not to give up in life. If I was able to overcome the hardships, you can also do it,” she said. Adding to her statements she said that composing songs about herself has its challenges, especially when she performs, it always reminds her of her past.
The album is available on iTunes and Music Stores nationwide.
