DJ Maphorisa Receives Two Nominations At HAPA

Award winning DJ and music producer DJ Maphorisa received two nominations at the Humanitarian African Prestigious Awards (HAPA). He’s nominated in the categories for Music Producer of the Year as well as Best DJ Africa.

The HAPA awards are set to take place in the USA on Saturday the 18th in November 2017. These awards are a multi-cultural award ceremony with the mission of bridging African cultures and the rest of the world, they recognise talent from every part of the world and this time around SA’s very own renowned Dj Maphorisa stands a chance to scoop two awards.

Judging from the work he has been reportedly doing this year most would agree he deserves the nominations and should win. The hit singles he has dropped are massive bangers such as Midnight Starring, Particula and Ngempela to name a few. Prior his trip to New York to attend the One Africa Music Festival he said he was taking the sounds of SA to the US and he sure did, the performance he made was lit and the New York crowd loved him.

“It is always an honour to represent South Africa and Africa when I travel to places outside of the continent. It’s cool to play to audiences that may have never heard this kind of music. Like gqom for example: When you play it they have no idea what they’re hearing but they can’t help but move to it,” Maphorisa said.
