Most people complain that music shows are the same maybe in other places but not in South Africa. SA has a number of music shows that are different from each other and all of them are as equally entertaining. Each music show has its target audience, not all of us can love the same things so everyone is well accommodated in the music industry and have the freedom to choose all that they desire.

 

Below is a list of 5 SA music shows that are most watched, most followed and most entertaining…

Live Amp

 

Live Amp airs at 21h00 on SABC 1.   the show includes Top 5 Chart – where viewers are encouraged to vote for their favorite video of the week; Live Amp Sessions – hanging out with artists in their own space; Live Amp Shout Outs – the show goes to the viewers at various functions and in the streets to get them to send shout outs and also request their favorite videos; Live Amp Vaults – is an old-school throw back song selection; Wall of Fame – a video that has been voted no 1 for 6 weeks will be retired on the wall of fame and will become part of the highlights at the end of the year; and, Video Mixing will see a DJ mixing videos live on air.

 

Club 808  

 

Club 808 airs on e-tv every friday at 6 pm. The show has had a number of celebrity hosts ever since it started each one replacing the other. On the show, there is a DJ mixing songs and videos, on each episode they invite SA celebrites musicians, actors/actresses and any fun young pukblic figure fir enough to get down on the floor and dance. The show plays both local and international music videos. They also share some gossip or any type of interesting news about artists.

Imizwilili

Is a choral music show that entertains and informs viewers by presenting choral groups in a fresh and exciting way. It also celebrates and inspire the youth. It presents choral groups by placing them in their individual cultural environments and daily lives. The programmes include live studio recordings and music videos of the most outstanding choral groups. It captures lives of composers and musicians, and festivals, providing a platform to educate choir leaders and members.

 

The Roots 

Is a traditional music show that caters for indigenous music genres. The show provide entratinment, education and celebration of culture in various forms such art,muisc and dance of different cultural tribes in South Africa. The two young presenters, who are also representatives of each gender, south African language mix (one is fluent in Zulu while the other in Sepedi) are very knowledgeable on the subject matter of traditional and indigenous music to hold credibility. Presented by Ngizwe Mchunu & Tebogo Mahlaela. You can catch it on SABC 1 at 12:30 on Sundays.

 

Gospel Time 

 

The show is a celebration of local gospel stars. it also creates a platform to launch new unsigned gospel talent on national television. The show has a live audience and a resident band.The show was hosted by the Legendary award winning female gospel singer Rebecca Malope who was later joined by Thabiso Mokhethi as a co-host. It aires on SABC 2.
