Controversy Behind Kwesta’s ‘Spirit’ Music Video Over Slaughtering Escalates
Complaints filed at BCCSA for Kwesta's music for slaughtering a chicken
Controversy Behind Kwesta’s ‘Spirit’ Music Video Over Slaughtering Escalates. Kwesta is reportedly under fire recently over the music video of his current hit song Spirit for displaying visuals slaughtering a chicken. It seems some viewers found the slaughtering to be disturbing and full of savage then took action by reporting the matter to the BCCSA (Broadcasting Complaints Commission Of South Africa).
The rapper shared the news of the complain online and fans weren’t hearing nothing of it as they defended the Ngud’ hitmaker saying some people shouldn’t be offended when others practise their culture and/or tradition through slaughtering an animal.
One of scenes on the video a chicken could be seen on the ground with a bloody knife against its head. The video also features several other traditional practices and rituals, including this slaughter.
“The BCCSA has officially received a complaint about a scene in the #SpiritMusicVideo where a chicken is being slaughtered, as part of a ritual. Let’s hope it’s dismissed otherwise, we’re being called savages…” read Kwesta’s tweet.
The BCCSA confirmed to TshisaLIVE that it had received a complaint over the depiction of a chicken being slaughtered in the video further stating that a decision of conducting an investigation of the compliant is yet to be made.
However Kwesta claimed that he was not bothered the complain because he didn’t do anything illegal. “There was a complaint and I don’t care for it. All due diligence was followed before we started shooting the video. Everything is legal.
