Oskido On Why Some Of The Artists He Worked With Never Made It Big
Oskido comments on the reconciliation of band Bongo Maffin
Oskido On Why Some Of The Artists He Worked Never Made Big. Music legend Oskido has stressed the reasons that cause talented artists to not make it big even if they have the potential, saying they tend to be big-headed. The DJ has worked with a number of big artists in SA included Busiswah, Cassper Nyovest and Bongo Maffin to say the least and in his time of working with all types of musicians he said that some artists ruin their talents with ego.
“The biggest challenge we face is people being big-headed and losing respect for others. There are too many people who have had so much talent but have wasted it because of their attitude. Opportunities will come for those with talent, often they do, but no one wants to stick with someone who thinks they are better than others.” said the founder of record label Kalawa Jazmee Speaking to TshisaLive.
The same attitude and ego Oskido was on about was suspected to be the cause behind the split of Bongo Maffin but Oskido denies that was the reason.
“They were just taking a break and they are back together now. There is no bad blood and no tension in the group. We just decided that now was the right time to get them back together and record a project. Many groups take a break, it is normal, but we are just grateful that they have come back together again.”
The group prepares to release their comeback album, their first in 12 years. The project is due for release later this year.
Oskido is also set to perform at the Red Bull Music Festival in April and said he was excited to perform at the event. “I am really excited to perform at the festival. After all this time in the industry I still get excited to play at every show and give everything during my performances. Fans can expect a party,” he said.
