Mmatema Moremi Reveals What Inspired Her Hit Single ‘Ke Lerato’. While most musician release songs meant to only entertain, it’s a diffrent case with Mmatema who says her songs are inspired by love, real life events and of course God.
The idols runner-up dropped her debut album last year titled Love. Praise. Worship which featured her hit single Ke Lerato. Moremi claims that Ke Lerato was inspired by the tough time SA was going through at the time – Femicide.
“I wrote Ke Lerato at the time South Africa was going through the worst in terms of homicide, women abuse and when the tragic news of Karabo Mokena broke,” she explained. I wanted to encourage the spirit of caring for the next person on the street by singing about general love among humans.” she said Speaking to Drum.
She also said that Love.Praise.Worship was inspired by her life post-Idols.
“Idols played a big role in my career since it gave me a start and exposed me to people who were interested in my gift. It opened many doors for me,” she said. Love. Praise. Worship inspired my current life and life post-Idols. I decided to fuse everything into one album because people expect to hear different sounds from me.”
The album, which is out in stores, has different songs ranging from love songs to gospel songs in order to appeal to all of her fans.
On her plans for the year, she said she plans to have an album tour as well as some other projects.
“l’ll be pushing the album as much as I can by having an album tour in all major cities. I’ll also be doing more acting and presenting. I’m currently shooting the second season of Bone of My Bones and I’ll be on a new gospel show on SABC1.”
