Simphiwe Dana had to get her name out of the bad light after she was accused to have been linked with an abuser that she had released from an international prison. The singer has been known to have been standing up for women, against femicide and women abuse. In one of her recent social media post she speaks about how she was abused by someone that she was close to.

However, one lady spoke about Simphiwe Dana releasing the alleged abuser, Mohau, from a prison in Kenya. In a 2018 post, the ‘Bamako’ singer stated that she had saved an abuser from going to prison in another country. In her recent tweets, she explains how she had saved the man from going to prison. “My sibling got a call from her friend at the time, Mohau, frantic, saying that he was in jail in Kenya and that his passport was confiscated. My sibling was also frantic,” says Simphiwe Dana. The artists says that she was shocked after she saw tweets from a certain tweep about the experience that they have had with the person, which got him in jail.

“I was shocked and saddened at how I helped someone who abused woman get out of jail. Remember, Mohau wasn’t my friend and I didn’t know anything about his character as a person. He was always there for my sister. And I appreciated that about him. I even contacted the woman he abused, she confirmed what he had done.” She went on to say that she also exposed the man for his actions on social media. Thereafter, the victim and alleged perpetrator thus released a joint statement, saying that she is a liar.

“Later the woman who was abused and Mohau, released a joint statement calling me a liar. I don’t blame her as I know the psychology of abuse. She had been abused several times by Mohau and his mother was aware. That’s the full story. Now, I can take the blame for helping someone without knowing the full story. I didn’t enable an abuser. I’m feminist who doesn’t waver but in this regard,” says Simphiwe Dana. The singer says that she had made a mistake by not finding out what but just thought of helping her sister’s best friend who was in trouble.
