While most people are giving up the most to have fame and money because they feel it would make their lives worth living, Sjava on the other hand who has that fame and money and has just won himself a BET Awards begs to differ. The star said that he is not making music for money and fame but to connect with people who relate to his craft.
Speaking to Drum magazine about his win and said he really never expected to walk away with the prize.
He’s key to success? It’s never been about the money and fame, he says.
“It was to make music every day people can relate to and connect with. I make music for ordinary people in South Africa.”
He said his traditional Zulu outfit got a lot of people talking and he was grateful to share his culture on an international stage.
They were so fascinated. That made me realise we, as Africans, need to appreciate our own things and not take anything for granted.”
