INTERNATIONAL: Tracy Chapman Slaps Nicki Minaj With Copyright Lawsuit

Nicki reportedly stole lyrics from Tracy Chapman's song ‘Baby Can I Hold You’

INTERNATIONAL: Tracy Chapman Slaps Nicki Minaj With Copyright Lawsuit. According to TMZ US star Nicki Minaj is allegedly being sued by Tracy Chapman for copy right infringement. The fast car hitmaker filed a lawsuit against Nicki stating that she allegedly illegally used vocal melody and lines of text from her 1988 song Baby Can I hold you, in her latest album Queen.

The song which was titled Sorry and featured Nas was at a stage later removed from the album but several hours leaked onto the net after the Andaconda hit maker dropped Queen.

Tracy also alleges in the lawsuit that the sample track was streamed on several radio stations with permission permitted by Nicki and her team causing it to go viral, after it was pulled from the album.

Even though Minaj attempted to make the song disappear, Tracy said that the damage was done and was in turn suing the rapper for damages in the form of plunder.

Furthermore, the 54-year-old singer is also allegedly trying to prohibit Nicki and her team from ever releasing Sorry.
