Nduduzo Makhathini On Working With Black Coffee On New Single “Muye”
Nduduzo Makhathini On Working With Black Coffee On New Single “Muye”. Two of the greatest in their selected genres Makhathini and Black Coffee collaborated on a new single together titled Muye which was well received by both Jazz and Deep House music fans.
Speaking to TshisaLIVE, Nduduzo explained that he and Black Coffee created music with a vision and that the fusion of their different kinds of music created something that would inspire the coming generations.
“Coffee knows that we don’t get to choose certain things in our lives but that we are servants of the music. I mean the idea of Music Is King, as well for me, it is quite profound. In that it says wherever the music leads you, you are willing to go as a musician. He doesn’t idolise the musician but the art, the music.”
Nduduzo explained that he and Coffee had actually attended the same school when they were younger and although they would have never thought that they would be re-united by music.
“Black Coffee and I actually went to same school and learnt from the same teachers and we were both at UKZN. We did the same program and were taught by the same teachers, even though he was senior to me, I think by two or three years. That was one connection we had and the other was we actually had similar ideas about music and many other things.”
Nduduzo said the jazz community has received his Black Coffee collabo so well and many have told him they are looking forward to more.
