Babes Wodumo, facing Domestic Violence again?

We know our country – South Africa, to have the loftiest occurrences concerning domestic violence in the world. The perpetual horrendous act of domestic violence is the most customary and predominant human right that is abused in our communities. Each hour of the day; they butcher women. They are sexual, physical – none invited encounters; constantly intimidated and shamed by their loved ones, significant others within their comfort zones.

There is even an estimation that out of six women in Mzansi, one is constantly abused by their partner. To further add salt to the wound; only 46% of cases of abuse involving children alongside the women are conducted without knowledge to the public.

What is shocking is to learn how one of our own, Babes Wodumo appears to be a victim to his partner musician Mampintsha.  How did this surface? Considering it is not the first time this rumour took centre stage. I and the rest of South Africa vividly saw this, proceeding footage of a male figure taking the features of Mampintsha, striking a female, who takes the likes of Babes Wodumo. The snippet or rather video under that is currently under scrutiny was recorded on Babes’ Instagram live on Sunday night but has since been taken down.

Fans went hysteric, exchanging their views and feelings concerning the matter. They prolonged this to an extent that Mthethwa has released a statement rebuking domestic violence. This is what he had to say:
“It shocks us, we are irritated by the conduct of the kwaito star Mapmpintsha He is seen on the video where he brutally assaults Internationally pronounced Artist Babes Wodumo. We speak against this barbaric act, but call forward @BABESWODUMO to press charges against the accused.”

He then added: “@GovernmentZA will never tolerate gender-based violence. It is informed by a twisted logic of patriarchal power relations in society. We call on all South Africans to isolate the perpetrators & to fight & defeat gender-based violence with the same zeal as when we fought racism.”

Do we remember how in the previous year 2018 the same vendetta surfaced? But with haste was buried to be forgotten. When she was asked in an interview, she did not confirm nor deny the allegations against Mampintsha. Which leaves us with question marks?????
His response on an interview concerning the situation was –  he is “no saint”
Local celebrities added their thoughts on the matter, trailing on the footsteps of the Minister.

Zinhle Jiyane – The law must discipline Mapinstha -. May they make an example out of him so to send a clear message to every man, to know that hitting a woman is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. My heart breaks for Babes. ”

You can get a protection order!

In case you are a victim, “a protection order”, perhaps,” a domestic violence interdict,” it addresses the abuser to stop; come to a halt and frames specific conditions prohibiting the abuser from assaulting or abusing the casualty. It also helps to prevent the abuser from stopping with his responsibilities in case you are reliant on them with maintenance. This document helps to isolate the abuser from any assistance in advancing in the act of domestic violence.
