Lwah Ndlunkulu shares how her music career started and joining Inkabi Records. South African singer and songwriter Lwah Ndlunkulu came to the city of gold in pursuit of her music career and in a short space of time, she became an outstanding artist.

In her interview at Kaya 959, Lwa spoke out about the birth of her music career. She shared that for the love she has for music she decided to quit school and pursue music. In 2020 during lock down, Lwah took a decision to drop out of school and relocate to Johannesburg to make her dream of becoming a musician a reality. “I dropped out during lockdown. I dropped out of grade 11 during lockdown and then I decided no I don’t want to go to school. I want to do music. So in 2020, I dropped out and came to Johannesburg”, Lwah shared.

The singer also shared how she came to Johannesburg with no plans and place to stay but a dream. Even though her situation was not good, the fire in her did not stop burning. She shared that she decided to get a job so to sustain herself until she finds a way to make music. She said she got a job at a community radio station and her intentions were to play her music so that she can be discovered.

“I had no plan and no place to stay. I found a job at Hillbrow Community Radio Station but I did not get paid because it was a community station. I did shows at night and in the morning I went into the studio”, said Lwah.

The singer also spoke out about how she joined Big Zulu’s Record Label Inkabi Records. She shared that she was approached by a producer from the record label. While they were working in studio, Big Zulu fell in love with her voice and they started working on the song titled Umuzi eSandton. The song made waves and became a hit and the rest is history.

“The producer told me that I can come to the studio and I asked him which studio and he said Inkabi Records. I was not familiar with the label at the time. I started going to the studio and while the producer was playing my songs, Big Zulu asked him about the singer of the songs. I responded and said it is me. He then said it looks like we will have many artists at Inkabi Records. Right there and then I knew I was gonna be signed… And then we started working on the song Umuzi eSandton“, Lwah shared.

Lwah has done exceptionally well in her career and she is continuing to thrive. The singer had been releasing hit songs and is making her mark in the music industry.
